Urgency isn’t leadership.

It’s panic with a to-do list.

It feels responsible.

It feels productive.

It feels like I’m “handling it.”

Most of the time,

urgency is fear trying to feel useful.

It speeds me up before I’m oriented.

It has me speak before I understand.

It has me act before I’ve identified the problem.

Leadership doesn’t start with emotion.

Leadership starts with orientation.
