Big Egos Command Small Structures

They have to. It’s a paradox and a truth.

The bigger part of something I am, the smaller it is.

When we make ourselves the main character in a room, role, or relationship, the space is constrained by our potential. Our ego demands control, credit, and comfort. When we choose to be a part of something bigger, the space is constrained by the thing that is bigger than us.

That’s also a truth. It is, after all, bigger than us.

Choosing to be a part of and contributing to something bigger than us doesn’t make us smaller. It makes our impact larger.
