I’ve built castles in the clouds.
Clear.
Elegant.
Fully formed in my mind.
Every room placed.
Every path obvious.
There was only one problem.
No ladder.
Nothing that could reach it.
No time committed.
No energy directed.
No structure to hold it in place.
It felt real.
It wasn’t reachable.
I’ve also had the opposite.
Resources everywhere.
Time blocked.
Tools ready.
People involved.
Plenty to work with.
No vision.
No direction tying it together.
Stones.
Scattered.
Heavy.
Useful.
Disconnected.
Nothing held.
Nothing built.
Imagination without resources floats.
Resources without imagination sit.
One dreams without landing.
The other gathers without forming.
The work is not choosing between them.
It’s binding them.
Giving the vision a ladder.
Giving the materials a plan.
Something to climb.
Something to hold.
Castles and Stones
