Where our words come together in a daily email.

Paid Practice Beats Working

Getting paid to practice life beats working to get paid.

In the context of work, whoever signs my paycheck

is going to pay me to become more effective.

Effectiveness is synonymous with happiness

in terms of getting what I want.

Happiness is being happy with what I did

and how the results turned out.

My overwhelming experience is that

when I’ve been effective,

doing the right thing, not doing things right,

I don’t give two shits about the results.

Consequently, I’m happy.

Regardless of what any given job is,

there’s an abstract of that skill in your personal life.

Whoever signs your paycheck

is going to pay you

to get better at that skill.

You have the opportunity to become

a more effective human

and can translate that effectiveness

to where you DON’T get paid.

Getting paid to practice to be more effective

in our lives that we pay for, beats working.

Where are you getting paid to practice?
